Wedding Experts Break Down Their Top 10 Honeymoon MUST HAVES!
The only thing more fun than planning a wedding? Planning a HONEYMOON! Whether you’re staying in sunny Savannah or headed for somewhere a bit more exotic, you’ve got some bags to pack-- and lucky for you, we’ve created this list of our top ten picks to take the guesswork out of your honeymoon adventure.
Toilet Paper?
Okay so we know this one’s a bit silly, but when we asked shop owner (and recent bride!) Nicole what she wished she had more of at her honeymoon, TP was her top suggestion. This is one item that you can never have enough of, particularly in more remote destinations, but keep in mind that some plumbing systems may be too delicate to handle flushing!
Sunscreen
A no brainer if you’re as pale as our resident blogger Paige, sunscreen is a must no matter your destination. Even snowy mountaintops leave you exposed to harmful UV rays, so if you want to keep that newlywed glow going, slather on the SPF any time you plan to spend lots of time outside.
Chapstick
There is nothing worse than needing chapstick when there isn’t any available! If you’re headed to a climate that’s drier than you’re used to, stock up on some extra lip care products before your head out. Bonus: it’ll keep your lips niiiiice and soft for all that honeymoon smoochin’.
Comfy Shoes
If you’re anything like us, you tend to pack every pair of pretty heels you own when you head out on vacation-- and then you never end up wearing a single one. While we’d never discourage you from packing your favorite pair of fancy dress shoes, make sure you grab something that you’ll be comfortable in if you plan to do a lot of walking on your honeymoon tours.
First Aid Kit
Hey, accidents happen! Come prepared with your own first aid kit to put your mind at ease. This way you won’t have to make a dash to the front desk for any bandaids and there won’t be any language barriers at the local pharmacy if you’re in need of some disinfectant.
Insulated Cup
This is probably the most southern recommendation of all, but really, how would we get on without our insulated cups? No matter how long you plan to sit on the beach, your drink will stay nice and cool-- and, best of all, won’t get watered down! This will also come in handy if you plan to honeymoon in a colder climate; you can keep your hot cocoa hot for longer.
Bug Spray
Ward off pesky mosquitos and protect yourself from tropical diseases with this handy honeymoon staple. We know it doesn’t smell the greatest… but you will both be thanking us when you’re itch free in paradise.
Medicines
Imagine being half a world away from your vital headache meds-- yeah, that’s the last thing you want on your honeymoon. Make a checklist of all your medications before packing so you can be certain you’ve covered everything. Don’t forget to bring along painkillers, tums, and some anti-diarrheal medication. Sounds gross, sure, but better to have it and not need it than the other way around!
Card Games
Let’s imagine the worst case scenario for a second, shall we? Your flight’s delayed, the bar’s closed, and you’re bored out of your mind… what could you possibly do to kill the time while still squeezing in some quality time? CARD GAMES! Pack along a deck and keep yourselves entertained even when the going gets rough.
Chargers
Is there anything worse than forgetting your chargers? While we’re sure you plan to spend plenty of time unplugged with your new hubs, pack your chargers FIRST when getting your bags ready. Oh, and pro-tip: make sure you have appropriate converters if you’re headed out of the country for any length of time! They charge an arm and a leg for them at the airport.
PS: you see this happy couple? That’s shop owner Nicole and her new husband Alex! Go wish these two the biggest congrats on our Instagram page! Bet she’ll even do a happy dance if you give us a follow.
