Derby Meets Lowcountry {Featured on Savannah Soiree}

We love the Kentucky Derby. It's such a fun day, with ladies in gorgeous dresses and big hats, and the fastest 2 minutes in sports. But you don't have to be in Kentucky to have a good time! One of our favorite spots in the Lowcountry is the Oldfield River Club in South Carolina. Not far from Savannah, this venue features a stunning marsh view, gorgeous guest house, and endless scenery. Which is why we love this shoot even more! Photographed by Heather Kline, this shoot combines the Derby with the Lowcountry in the best ways possible. They used our Hallie gown by Ti Adora, which has been a bride favorite ever since we got it!

From photographer Heather Kline, "Who says Kentucky gets to have all the fun when the Derby rolls around each year? We decided the Derby needed to call on the Lowcountry this spring at Oldfield River Club in South Carolina for a bridal portrait styled session, and what we put together was elegant and laidback, with a kick-your-shoes-off-in-the-grass feel that would make any Southern family feel right at home! Our shoot was inspired by the easygoing Lowcountry lifestyle with a little bit of Kentucky Derby flair mixed in, all while using a traditional palette of blues and whites. Our real-life bride was excited to dress up for some bridal portraits while her husband is currently deployed in Ukraine! She wore a beautiful lace Ti Adora gown for the Spring 2016 season, covered in Venice lace that alluded to the eucalyptus florals used in the bridal bouquet and tablescape."

Isn't this dress just stunning? It is so perfect for an outdoor garden wedding, with its cascading leaves, and keyhole back. And we love the headpiece by our designer, Adele Amelia! Nicki makes all of her pieces here in Savannah, and this is perfect for an afternoon affair. We believe in supporting local businesses, which is why we focus on American made and small designers.

"The rustic farm-style table was set in the shade of tall pines, surrounded by a lovely mix of crossback fruitwood and Chiavari chairs. The table was adorned with a low garland of silver dollar eucalyptus and Italian Ruscus, woven amidst the silver candelabra and low floral groupings which included sweet pea, astilbe and blue thistle (an equine favorite) arranged loosely in mint julep cups, giving a simple elegance that encourages lively dinner conversation without a visual distraction." - Heather Kline
