I&B Couple: Gretchen & Alex

If you asked us to name an I&B Couple who made us think of warm sunshine and big smiles, Gretchen & Alex would definitely come in top in the running. Even just looking at them now calls to mind one of the most poignant lines from their wedding ceremony: “Love makes joys more intense, because you share them.” 

Gretchen & Alex were married at Captain’s Bluff, a beautiful coastal nature reserve on St. Simon’s Island. We’ll never get over how romantic these portraits beneath spanish moss are. 

Gretchen’s bridal bouquet was just the right balance of contemporary color and traditional beauty. Pops of bright purple are a great way to offset hot pink and blush tones. Throw in a bit of tropical greenery and a protea and you got yourself a bonafide I&B bouquet! 

There’s nothing we love more than a tropical arch, and it was insanely fun to bring Gretchen & Alex’s vision for their ceremony to life. Even their ring bearer was in on the floral fun: check out the greenery garland we created for the back of his sweet ride down the aisle! 

After the ceremony processional, Gretchen & Alex asked that their to guests join them in honoring the troops by standing for a bagpipe rendition of TAPS. 

Okay, so full disclosure: Gretchen & Alex’s grand exit was hands down one of the most epic we’ve ever seen. They gave guests a taste of all the awesome that was to come with their entrance song: “Panda,” but trust us when we say that it only got better from there! 

Their wedding decor was wonderfully fun and bright. From the golden pineapples to the blueberries interspersed throughout the greenery, just about everything from this reception was totally Insta-worthy! Our favorite? Their ADORABLE octopus cake by Vintage Soul Cakes. 

Remember that grand exit that we were talking about? YEAH! They had a freakin’ SLIP’N’SLIDE exit, y’all. Are Gretchen & Alex not totally the coolest?
