Ivory & Beau Florals & Planning: Sarah + Max
An Artistic Love Story: Sarah and Max's Intimate Wedding at The Drayton Hotel
In the enchanting embrace of Savannah's historic charm, Sarah and Max's love story unfolded amidst the timeless setting at The Drayton Hotel. With Ivory & Beau orchestrating the affair as both floral designer and wedding management, their wedding became a captivating narrative of contrasts, blending the allure of modern dark, moody florals with an artistic and editorial grace that feels very ‘old Hollywood’. Despite the November gloom, Sarah and Max illuminated the day with the radiance of their love, crafting an intimate celebration that resonated with warmth and joy.
Embracing the Mood with Artistic Florals
Sarah and Max embraced the non-traditional with their modern choice of dark and moody florals, which added a dark romantic mystique to the ambiance of their wedding. Sarah’s unique asymmetrical bouquet featured a large orchid as focal point, and surrounded by deep burgundy dahlias, dusty purple carnations, blackberry toned scabiosa scoop stems and light blue delphiniums. Floral designs of a similar composition were featured throughout the day, acting as the backdrop for the ceremony and centre pieces for their intimate reception. Some cascading greenery and deep toned big blooms featured throughout the arrangements, and mixed in with quicksand roses helped to create a dramatic finished look for Sarah & Max’s dream wedding.
Capturing the Essence with Karen Norian Photography
The editorial-style photography from Karen captured every moment with an artful eye, transforming Sarah & Max’s day into timeless works of art. From intimate portraits against the hotel's luxury rooms as the couple get ready, to editorial shots amidst the historic locations of Savannah, each photograph told a story of love, connection, and authenticity.
Here’s what the couples’ photographer, Karen Norian, had to say about their day!
“Sarah and Max were one of the kindest, most easygoing couples who put all of their trust in me to capture their wedding day in my own way. They had a moody, overcast day - my favorite kind of weather to shoot in - and the raindrop and chilly temps did nothing to damper their day. If anything, I think it was the perfect setting for them and the smiles on both of their faces throughout the day reaffirmed that thought. The joy they share and the love they have was an absolute honor to document. Their wedding day details were perfectly executed, with bursts of color and gorgeously curated tablescapes. Their aesthetic was a beautiful blend of timeless elements with modern touches and had no shortage of inspiration!”
On her work: “I love to create images that feel equal parts cinematic, editorial, and photojournalistic. When I blend them all together, my goal is to tell a unique, authentic story of a wedding day. The smaller elements are just as important as the big moments, because what’s a story, really, if there aren’t any tiny details? Most people describe my work as warm, moody, and intimate, while still feeling organic and natural. I love capturing deep colors and tones and take great care to make sure things like skin tones and foliage still feel true-to-life. There’s nothing I love more than documenting intimate weddings like Max and Sarah’s day!”
Intimate Moments
Despite the overcast skies, Sarah and Max's love illuminated the day as they exchanged vows in an intimate rooftop ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family. The gloomy Savannah sky hung heavy over the proceedings, accentuating the emotion and significance of the moment.
A Celebration of Love
As the evening unfolded, laughter and heartfelt speeches filled the air, creating a sense of warmth and love among the guests. From the romantic sways on the dance floor to the cutting of the cake, every moment was infused with love and celebration, proving that true love shines brightest even on the gloomiest of days. And of course, the couple couldn’t end the night without a mini-shoot with their two beloved pups, who looked equally as happy as their paw-rents.
Sarah and Max's wedding at The Drayton Hotel was a testament to the beauty of embracing individuality and celebrating love in all its forms. With Ivory & Beau's expertise as the floral designer and wedding management, every detail was meticulously curated to reflect the couple's unique vision and create an unforgettable experience for all who attended. As the newlyweds embarked on their journey together, they carried with them memories of a day filled with love, laughter, and the promise of a lifetime of happiness.
