Baby Bliss: How to Include Your Children in Your Wedding
Wedded bliss with babies in blush? Check!
We were delighted to have the opportunity to provide flowers for this sweet little shoot at Vic's on the River. If you need some motivation to get through the rest of your week, check out this precious-in-pink model.
Here at Ivory & Beau, we're no strangers to brides with babies. Today, we've got some tips and tricks for incorporating your flower child into your special day!
We know this cutie looks pleased as a peach underneath our handmade flower crown, but if you're interested in having pictures taken of your little one, you might want to consider their sleep schedule beforehand. Even if you're not quite ready for your formal snaps, it's totally fine to put baby first. Primetime for a photoshoot is when baby is well-fed and well-rested!
If you decide that it's best not to include baby in your ceremony but you're still looking to involve them in your special day, think about booking a wedding-inspired photo session for your baby. Involve your color scheme, flowers, and other wedding-inspired decor for photos that pay a perfect homage to your ceremony, just like this lovely wreath we designed for this shoot!
Part of being a parent means pulling diaper duty, but if you're not down for the doody on your wedding day, it might be a good idea to call in some reinforcements. Family can be a great (not to mention free) resource, but don't forget your fam is looking to enjoy the party too! If you're looking to give grandma a break, consider hiring a caregiver who can tend to baby when the need arises.
If your child is a little older, it might be a good idea to provide some entertainment. Quiet toys (like a busy book or a stuffed animal) offer the perfect distraction to your baby for a ceremony--without being distracting to your guests. When it comes time for the reception, we suggest butcher paper or coloring pages at the children's table (we've seen the adults sneak some color time in, too).
At the end of the day, it's your wedding and your child! You know what's best for you and your family. There is plenty of time for you and your child to enjoy life's milestones together, so don't feel obligated to make it perfect. Kids will be kids, and while nothing's predictable where babies are concerned, we find that they always add a touch of something special to the personality of a wedding!
Besides, babies are pretty stinkin' cute no matter what they do. Just look at that sweet little face!
