5 Things To Know BEFORE Booking Your Wedding Florist
Oh hey there, busy bee! We see you working hard on your wedding planning checklist! If you’re getting ready to book your wedding florist, we understand if you’re feeling a little lost. As expert Savannah wedding planners and florists, we get questions from brides and couples alike EVERY DAY about what we feel they should know BEFORE booking their wedding florist. If you’re looking for the rundown on all things wedding florals, we’ve got you covered (whether you’re planning a Savannah wedding or not)!
HAVE WEDDING FLOWER INSPIRATION ON HAND
We totally understand if you’re feeling a little burnt out on Pinterest… but the more inspiration you can provide your florist, the better an idea they’ll have of whether or not they’re a good fit! Other great places to look for wedding flower inspiration include: Green Wedding Shoes, Junebug Weddings, and Southern Coastal Weddings.
COME WITH A BUDGET IN MIND
There’s nothing we love more than designing large, luscious floral arrangements for our Savannah wedding clients, but we find that often prospective couples don’t know what to expect in terms of how to match their budget to their expectations. Sometimes it just isn’t realistic– or budget friendly– to have the world’s biggest wedding arch (but if you’re looking to set records, give us a call).
Rest assured that florists are armed with LOTS of ideas for how you can save and still achieve the wedding florals of your dreams, but it can’t hurt to do a little preliminary research just so that initial estimate doesn’t give you a shock!
DO SOME RESEARCH ON YOUR TOP PICKS
We know, we know… you’re not looking for MORE wedding homework! We promise it’s worth the effort, though. We recommend that you narrow down your top THREE choices for wedding florist and do a deep dive before making your initial inquiry. Stalk their socials, read their reviews, sift through their tagged photos… whatever helps you get a sense of what their overall “vibe” is.
A super fun way to make this task NOT feel like a chore is to turn your weekly wedding planning sesh into a mini-date night! Grab your favorite snacks and a yummy bevvie and time will FLY by. Who knows… you might just tick another box on that wedding planning checklist!
COORDINATE WITH YOUR OTHER VENDORS
As Savannah’s only one stop wedding shop, we’ll admit, our Ivory & Beau couples have it pretty easy on the coordination front. Our planners come armed with an exact knowledge of our rental inventory– and a pretty thorough understanding of what other local wedding vendors in terms of rentals! It may be worth reaching out to both your prospective florist and other vendors you’re working with to see what they will supply, including candles, vases, arches, and more!
DON’T OVERTHINK IT
Okay: this is a big ask, especially if you’re a perfectionist like us. Seriously, though– don’t sweat the small stuff. You’ll drive yourself crazy wondering if your greenery arrangement is better suited in this corner of your venue or that one!! If you’re really feeling stressed about your floral arrangements on your big day, the BEST thing you can do is maintain a clear, open line of communication with your florist. Don’t be afraid to ask them their opinion or what’s worked for them in the past– odds are they’re SUPER familiar with your wedding venue, especially if they’re a local wedding vendor!
