5 Last Minute Halloween Costumes using your Wedding Dress

Time in 2020 has flown by, and now all of a sudden Halloween is just 8 days away and you realize you don’t have a costume. Look no further than your wedding dress hanging in your closet (for those brides who didn’t get their dresses preserved). There are endless ways to use a white gown to create an awesome costume in a short period of time. Whether you are going to a Halloween party, trick-or-treating with your family, or staying home to watch a movie while handing out candy, you can stay festive with these quick & easy looks.

SKELETON BRIDE

This is probably the easiest look for a last minute Halloween costume because it requires the least amount of accessories. That being said, it is also the costume for our creative & artistic gals who have a passion for makeup (or know someone who is good at makeup). You can do something super simple or go all out with shading and contouring. All you need is your wedding dress and your favorite black & white makeup products. If you want to go even further, you can add a super cool head piece, skull jewelry and a dried out bouquet.

A CINDERELLA STORY

This is for the 90s babies who grew up watching A Cinderella Story, wishing they could be Hilary Duff dancing the night away with Chad Michael Murray in a gorgeous ball gown. Another super easy costume where you only really need one accessory, the mask! Any white masquerade mask will work, then tease your hair, grab some heels from your closet, and practice running away from your prince. Now you can live out your 10 year old dreams!

MODERN HIPPY

Did you really think it would be an Ivory & Beau blog without including something boho?! It’s a 70s hippy, but make it modern. This costume is for all of the boho brides who chose a wedding dress with sheer intricate lace, billowy sleeves and flowy skirts. When it comes to accessories, you can keep it simple and just add a flower crown (DIY or storebought), or go all out and add a fringe vest, tinted sunglasses & even some platform boots.

DAENERYS TARGARYEN

Where are all of my Game of Thrones fans at?!?! Daenerys has been a popular costume on Halloween for the past few years, and even though the show has ended, I don’t see this costume disappearing anytime soon. Although her looks are so well-made and complex, it is easier than you think to look like your favorite Queen. A simple, sleek silhouette & dresses with the least amount of detail work the best for this look, specifically sheath or crepe. All you need to do is add on a white cape and some kind of intricate neck piece (let your inner DIYer shine!). Of course you can’t forget about her iconic icy hair. You have two options, invest in a wig (Amazon Prime is your best friend) or spray your hair with temporary white dye. Baby dragon toys are a nice touch too.

CLASSIC ZOMBIE BRIDE

I couldn’t leave out one of the most classic Halloween costumes, the zombie bride. Same as the skeleton bride, all you really need is makeup, and some fake blood. You’re probably thinking “why would I ruin my wedding dress with fake blood?”. Completely OPTIONAL. Some brides think “I wore it once, I won’t wear it again” and others want it as a keepsake. Completely up to you. If that’s the case, keep all of the mess above the shoulders like Kourtney K did below, and it still gets the point across. Go even further to add fake wounds and maybe even some colored contacts.
