Whimsical Cherry Blossoms
There is nothing more romantic then a field of cherry blossoms. I've always dreamed if being proposed under the cherry blossom trees in DC by the Jefferson Memorial. (This is Adrienna by the way!) The soft pinks, the heavenly scent... it's all so perfect! I still hold on to this dream, so this shoot has a special place in my heart! When Rach told us she was doing a shoot under a field of cherry blossom trees, I fell in love! Sunset in a field of flowers is perfection, and we had the perfect gown! Our Kelly gown by Ti Adora fit the theme so well. It is a little sexy with it's plunging v neck, but still sweet with the lace cascading from the bodice into the skirt. The back is low, with a criss crop strap for a modern touch. And we love the anemone hair piece! Anemones are one of my favorite flowers, and always add such a fun punch of black and white to bouquets. It's like the flowers are wearing little tuxedo's! And finding this place was pure luck, and faith!
From designer Emily Burton,
"So a group of us hopped in the car and drove North in search of the most beautiful Cherry Blossom Trees! Of course we didn’t have this mapped out…because sometimes you just go wherever the wind takes you…or the Lord whispers at you! Well, I swear I kept hearing him whisper at me to turn down this little dirt road, so we did! This couldn’t have worked out any better! Don, the “Farm house Keeper” didn’t live at this Cherry Blossom Farm, but he did over see it. He was thrilled, we stopped! In fact, we got the grand tour, and pretty much was told to help ourselves! We all kind of giggled from time to time, because we felt like we were on a movie set.. Every couple of minutes, Don would come by with a group of grandkids on the golf cart to observe what we were doing! (But I guess when you aren’t in the Industry and your on-lookers from the outside, seing a fake wedding going on and you live out in the country it would be pretty cool) I swear the golf cart loads kept growing as the shoot progressed.
The weather was perfect, a cool breeze billowed through the trees and this whimsical magic happened… "
We love this spin on a bundt cake! People tend to think of bundt cakes as being old school, but they are so delicious, and making a comeback! There are so many varieties you can do, from lemon to chocolate! We call them Bundkuchen in German, and these have always been a family favorite! I love the little candy cherry blossom pieces scattered on the cake. From stylist Emily Burton, "...bundt cakes should so be the South’s new wedding cake…they're moist, buttery, and well…do I even need to say more?!"
