Shannon & Britt on Green Wedding Shoes
We could go on and on about how magical Shannon & Britt's wedding was. They came to us looking for a month of coordinator and a florist for their summer solstice wedding. They envisioned a wedding that was warm, intimate, and filled with love. They chose Soho South Cafe for the ceremony and reception, a fun and eclectic cafe in Historic Savannah, within walking distance to all of the beautiful squares. It's easily becoming one of Savannah's most popular spots, and once you see the photo's you are going to fall in love with it too. Since Shannon & Britt are both artists, they were very hands on when it came to the vision and the wedding details. Britt is a talented illustrator, so he designed and created all of the stationary himself. We love the portraits on the cards, as well as the hand written calligraphy on the invitations. Their wedding was so fun, and the crowd really loved to dance! No one was sitting down, and it was one of the funnest and most energetic weddings we have ever done! We love when guests get up and dance the night away. Everything about their wedding was so magical, and just so perfect. It's no wonder this wedding was just featured on Green Wedding Shoes! Mackensey Alexander was the perfect fit for this wedding. Her style, energy, and just pure love was a match made in heaven for this couple.

We couldn't have imagined a more gorgeous gown for Shannon. She wore Stella by Leanne Marshall, which features layers of effortless chiffon that made her look like she was floating. Her hair and makeup was just perfect. Shannon is so incredibly stunning, she already looks like a goddess! We love that both her and Britt wore flower crowns, it really completed their look.
Shannon wanted her bridesmaids to be just as effortless as her, so each wore cream gowns with flutter sleeves, and simple greenery crowns. Their bouquets were small with just eucalyptus and ferns. Shannon's bouquet was large, and very textured. She wanted everything natural and organic. It included eucalyptus, ferns, Italian ruscus, rosemary and olive branches, and smelled just so amazing! The only flowers in the wedding were in her bouquet, which were a few white lisianthus.
Shannon & Britt's ceremony was one of the coolest we have ever done. For the layout, Shannon wanted a circular orientation, with greenery and candles surrounding them. This allowed guests to sit all around them, and gave it such a unique and intimate feel. For the ceremony they started with an Altar Girl walking around the outside of the circle of chairs lighting a candle for each of the 4 elements. It was definitely the most unique start to a ceremony I have ever seen and made the room feel as though it came alive with magic. They had a friend officiate, and had a handfasting ceremony to show their unity. Handfasting is a historical term for “betrothal” or “wedding”, in which the hands of the couple are bound together with a ribbon or cord to symbolize their vows. For ceremony music they had a Hammer Dulcimer play Celtic tunes, and the bride walked down Nights in White Satin.
Shannon shares "The idea for a Summer Solstice inspired wedding came from the fact that people around the world celebrate the solstice with feasting and dancing… Which is exactly what we wanted – a huge party and feast! We were influenced by pagan traditions, from the circular arrangement to the Handfasting ceremony. Since the event was indoors, we knew we wanted a lot of candlelight and greenery to emphasize our theme."
For the reception, we flipped the space and transformed it into a romantic garden. Shannon's vision included dozens and dozens of brass candlesticks and tapered candles everywhere. The look was one of our favorites we have ever done. It created such a warm and romantic atmosphere, with endless greenery on every table. Their decor was absolutely stunning. We got to do their flowers, and we had so much fun coming up with ideas! We made two large Summer Solstice styled sunwheels made with seasonal greenery, including eucalyptus, italian ruscus, and rosemary. One hung in the entrance to Soho South and the other hung over the garage door with lights overlooking the ceremony and reception.
